Derek joined the family business June of 2016. He lives in White Bear Lake, MN with his wife and 2 children. Derek is a Registered Representative and licensed insurance agent. Derek brings a unique perspective to the industry based on his previous experience in both the public and private sectors.

Derek was in project and production management most of his career in the manufacturing and building world. Derek also was a paid per call firefighter and EMT for 17 years. For 10 of those years he was the president of the Relief Association. These roles have provided him years of experience with employee benefits and pension plans.

When not in the office, Derek enjoys being outdoors with his family hunting, fishing and snowmobiling. He coaches youth sports and enjoys watching his boys participate in team activities.

In the late 1970’s I started my insurance career selling life and individual life products, at the time I was teaching English and speech at Grantsburg High School in Grantsburg, Wisconsin and needed a part-time job to supplement my teacher’s salary. In 1979 I resigned my teaching position and launched full-time into the insurance profession.

In 1981 our family moved from Grantsburg, WI to Naperville, IL so I could train in a program offered by Mutual Trust to enable me to become a General Agent; in 1982 our family moved to White Bear Lake, Minnesota and the journey continued.

In order to broaden the product spectrum my agency began providing Medicare Supplements, long term care coverages, group & individual health products along with annuities and life insurance. It wasn’t until 1988 that I began to offer mutual fund products to provide my clients with additional avenues to invest their money into ROTH and Traditional IRAs, Simple IRAs, SEP pension plans and 401(k) plans.

In June of 2016 my son, Derek, joined the agency and has taken over the majority of the sales and service process. In addition to the above products, Derek has added Part D prescription drug plans to the Medicare Supplement business. We service clients in the Twin Cities and western Wisconsin. We contend our service is the finest in the insurance industry; our phone lines are open seven days a week and if we do not answer personally, we return calls within a very short time.
